Most expensive home in the world 301$ million

The lifestyle of the rich and famous may be more than we can afford, but we can still dream, right? This castle right outside of Paris looks like it's a lavish resort for honeymooners on a romantic getaway in France. Instead, this $301 million chateau just sold to a anonymous buyer.

Enough Space

With its selling price, Chateau Louis XIV is now the most expensive home in the entire world. Even Kim Kardashian and Kanye West visited the 50,000 square foot property when they were hunting for wedding venues.

Lots Of Land

It took three years to construct the property and it was finally completed in 2011. The 23-hectare estate has amenities so ridiculous it would make any exclusive resort blush. Even the Chateau de Versailles fountain of Apollo replica is covered in gold leaf.

Like A Boss

Every bathroom is larger than the size of an average New York City apartment. The marble used throughout the home was imported in various designs from Brazil, Tuscany, Belguim, and France—even pink onyx from Iran.

Sporty Spice

If you feel like getting a little exercise in, there's no need to leave the property. Use the indoor racquetball court instead. Afterward, enjoy a relaxing time in the personal spa, maybe by taking in a rest in the onsite sauna.

Humble Brag

There are two swimming pools, one indoor and one outdoor. Cogemad, the company responsible for the construction of the home, wrote on its website about the property: “With elegantly planted parterres, a gleaming gold-leafed fountain, an infinite array of flowers, marble statues, bridle paths and a hedged labyrinth, the property’s park and gardens evoke the genius of Le Notre."

Different Kind Of Aquarium

Some people like aquariums, and others wish they could live in one. If you're in the latter camp, then feast your eyes on this lounge, which will make you feel as if you're underwater. If you aren't a fish fan, this could also be your worst nightmare. But if you need a break from dancing at the nightclub—oh, yes, there is also a nightclub on property—then this would be a great relaxation zone.

Home Theater

Who needs to watch movies in theaters with hundreds of strangers when you could do it in the privacy of your own home with the ones you love? This all-red home theater is complete with a popcorn machine and a special, comfy leather chair for a lucky viewer.

Anonymous Buyer

Now that the Chateau Louis XIV is known as the most expensive home in the world, it isn't surprising that the new home owner didn't want his or her identities revealed. All that is known about the wealthy buyer is that he or she is Middle Eastern; no further details have been released.

Teamwork Makes The Dreamwork

It took 200 people to construct the property, with one of the builders bragging to Capital Magazine by saying, "We did in three years what took 50 at Chateau Vaux-le-Vicomte."
Chateau Louis XIV beat out the previous record holder for most expensive home, a penthouse in London which sold for $221 million.
